Now that Halloween is over, many of your patients may have lingering candy stashes at their houses they want to get rid of. After all, a sweet treat or two every now and then doesn’t hurt kids’ teeth but the pounds of candy often hauled in on Halloween? Yeah, that’ll do some damage.
So what can you do to help reduce the sugary attack?
Join Operation Gratitude! (Or if you’re already a part—promote the heck out of it!)
As Halloween is behind us now we thought it would be the perfect time to spread the word about this amazing program.
Back in 2007 a Wisconsin Dentist contacted Operation Gratitude, a program that sends care packages to troops, and asked to join forces to send sweet treats to troops overseas. In just one year 300 dentists collected 20,000 pounds of donated Halloween candy to ship to our troops. By 2013 they had sent their millionth package. The candy is included in packages with toiletries, snack foods, and letters.
This year, if you’re already part of the program, according to www.halloweencandybuyback.com you still have time to get last minute donations—you need to ship them out by the middle of this month. Otherwise, make it a point to register your practice so you’re ready to take donations next year.
