A man comes home to thank a dentist who went above and beyond

When we think of those in our lives we should be most thankful for, our own dentists may not the one of the first who come to mind.

But for a 25-year-old man from New Jersey that’s definitely not the case.

Growing up Alex Kasprowitz visited a dentist that kept patient health—inside and outside the mouth—a top priority. This meant checking the blood pressure and pulse of every patient who comes in their door. A practice that most likely saved this man’s life.

When they checked his pulse his heart rate came in at 35, which is much too low. This led staff to urge Kasprowitz to get medical attention, and he was later diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy—a potentially life threatening heart condition.

Fortunately, because he sought treatment Kasprowitz was able to get surgery and be equipped with a pacemaker and defibrillator to fight the disease.

And he now owes his old dental office a world of gratitude, which he was finally able to express when he returned to New Jersey from his current home in Seattle for his sister’s high school graduation. While he was with family he made sure they all stopped at the dental office to share their thanks with the staff.

And as for why this office chooses to take these extra preventive measures with their patients, the doctor says it’s simply because more often than not patients see the dentist more than they see their doctor.

Now that’s truly an office that goes the extra mile to care for their patients. And they have the life-saving story to prove it!
